Welcome to Galloon Parish 2012

This site was put up to co-inside with the closing of the Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception Newtownbutler Co. Fermanagh. The church closed for major renovations which took place from April 2009 till October 2009. The estimated cost of the project cost in the region of £800,000. This site was established to keep parishioners near and far up to date on the progress of the work, the many  fundraising events locally and also make financial appeals to our parishioners throughout the world from Europe right across to the United States where Parishioners of Galloon emigrated and set down roots to rear families but never to forgot where they came from.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception was officially opened on the 15th of August 1897 and cost at that time £5000. A large part of this cost was raised locally at a time in Ireland when times were hard and money was scarce. Several thousand pounds was raised by emigrants particularly in the United States.
This 2009 renovation was the largest works carried out on the building since it opened in 1897 was phase one of a two phase project. Phase one included new lime plaster inside and out, a new roof, new plumbing and electrics and a new ground floor. It has been an exciting time for the Parishioners of Galloon and Parish Priest Fr Michael king continues to appeal to everyone young and old to contribute to the fundraising and feel part of a project which will hand on a fine place of worship for generations to come. A bank account is oporating in The Northern Bank Lisnaskea and details are available on the financial appeal page on this website.
2012 has arrived phase two of our development project is completed with our new adoration church build on to the side of the main building as was as new toilet bock, committee room and Parish office.
We appeal to all our Parishioners to continue to support our work and help us clear our debts.
